P.S. re my previous post, I am not a parent or grandparent with children at the school nor am I  anything to do with past or present administations.

In my heart, I wholeheartedly supported SABRES' work saving a school in Brandon.

I hope the website glitches are just that and the relevent staff will be more careful in future. They are under great pressure at the moment with only weeks to get everything ready for September. That is when any of us can make basic mistakes.

Let's hope they heed the concerns expressed by Muppet.

I understand Muppet'sconcerns. Him Indoors and I see so many allegedly professional documents,websites, newspapers etc with too many grammatical (including punctuation)errors. As Him Indoors tells me, we were almost the last generation to bemarked not simply on the content of our work but also the presentation. The incorrectuse of words (for example "effect" confused with "affect") orpunctuation ignored can change the meaning of a sentence not to mention theconfusion when you come across plural nouns with singular verbs.

My daughter had presented herfinal paper for her degree. It came back with a full page critique which had somany errors that my red ink biro almost ran dry. The final comment was “Do checkyour grammar before handing work in.” That was at the UEA. The result was thather work was downgraded but with a Professor who could not practise what she preaches,what hope have the students ?

Good luck, Muppet, with yourhopes about the new administrative and teaching staff.   

On a lighter note, the so-called greengrocer’s (or greengrocers') comma hasbeen well publicised.

We read a variation of this in a Brandon Health leaflet delivered last week. Ourbeloved Mark was described as a Green Grocer. Was this a variation on the Smurfs,I wondered ?  “Wondered” not “wandered.” Ichecked the next time I was in town. No, he definitely wasn’t green. So, maybeit meant he is “Green” as in “Green Party” and sells only local produce. Welldone, Mark. Where do you find the bananas growing locally ? Of course, neither descriptionapplies but it goes to show how misleading a document might be when the proofreading is poor or non-existent.

 

O.K. I know I’ve left myselfwide open to poor proof reading on my own behalf. That will only prove mypoint. You should ask someone else to read through your work when it is important.

I think a lot of people were under the impression the 'new' school would be the same as the 'old' school and unfortunately people don't like change. I don't think the total disorganisation of this measuring event has done them any favours, it took almost an hour and a half to get measured and pay, which is ridiculous, maybe they were not expecting so many people to turn up given the fact that the majority of people I spoke to had only found out about it that day. 
Once its open I am sure people will think this a wonderful school...............when they get used to it!

seems strange that this appears as the church house at the entrance to coulson Lane gets sold, went within days at 250000, big garden that could provide more access to that area.

 The cars are part of a much larger problem. It seems less and less likely I can get through a day without some sort of anti social behaviour. He seems completely unaware other people live here to and how his conduct affects us. What an utter shambles it was- totallydisorganised. Uniform people were, actually, spot on. The general organisationof the event was pitiful. I agree with Chocolate Hearts, it doesn't bode wellfor the running of a whole school if this simple event couldn't be organisedproperly. Not only that, it seems not everyone was even told it was on, someonly found out by word of mouth! And who was told to bring money? Yes, it isprobably obvious, but it was only billed as a measuring event, no mention ofpayment (and quite a big bill, at that, though it does look nice) Then thereare the grammatical errors on the web-site......

If they where not hard pruned then the roots would rip up the pavement and road eventually. It is standard conservation.
