I understand that the crossing gates are up, but the red light is still flashing. Network rail claim there is a signalling fault, and that it is not just Brandon affected! These all-too-common failings should be reported immediately to the Network Rail Emergency Number 03457 11 41 41.

Yes, I was their when it happened. People we're being absolute idiots driving across cutting other people up in the process and then yelling at other drivers as they went by for holding them up.

Network Rails phone on the crossing didn't work, (on both sides of the crossing) until I spoke to the police, then miracously the phone was answered after that.

Forest Heath police just tweeted that it is clear and working, but that traffic could take some time to clear...

It was probably caused by sheet lightning! I was at Weeting at the time the crossing stopped

I wonder how many times these gates have failed now?
It must cost far more than the "Man in the box" ever would have cost them!

Imagine how bad the traffic would have been with the 1650 extra houses built and the probable 2000+ cars that come with them and the "relief" road not finished.

Perhaps next time the railway should be closed and the road left open
